One of my conversations with a guy friend piqued my interest. I wanted to know what happened why he and the gf broke up and why she made him an asshole. He told me what happened but I know there was more to the story and then he added he doesn't want to tell me because I will be disappointed in him it was odd to hear that part. I said you can tell me and perhaps give you pointers on what to do on your next relationship.

No one likes unsolicited advice. Especially about relationships from a member of the opposite sex. It usually implies change. Nobody likes to change.
I would say leave it alone.
