I never thought Asians would be included in the list of discriminated minorities in the USA. I see most of them prospering. I've never known any who are poor. Perhaps I am wrong. Please inform me. Is there discrimination against Asians in the USA?

Certainly there is discrimination.  Mostly for the reasons you state.  Overall, asians are over achievers.  The ignorant masses in the US hate anybody who appears to do well, especially if they look different and are easy to identify.

I haven’t personally come across this.

1. I worked for Max Factor for 7 years and if anything they preferred Asian women for assembly line work. They were ambitious, nimble and had smaller hands perfect for doing some intricate cosmetic line work. Typically they seldom called off and frequently worked over on their breaks to make up for bottles or compacts they might have occasionally pulled from the assembly line due to speed of the assembly belt. No one expected them to do this it was part of their work ethic.

2. Other races might have secretly resented them seemingly taking more white jobs but no one dared to express this as Max Factor was a world class company and certainly would not tolerate any harassment or intimidation by another ethnic group, nor would I being a supervisor at that time.

By the way we had 22 different nationalities working at our facility and at all levels of employment from general assembly to upper management and corporate.

A multitude of races and religions.

We painted a wall outside the lunchroom with various Christmas foreign language/ dialect greetings! It was my idea and everyone participated and did the difficult to precisely duplicate Asian characters by painting them, themselves in their own language and even Russian!

I don't live in the U.S. so I don't know. I'll tell you this. I read these Q's and responses and I know so much about people, they tell on themselves. I also know the people I'm more in tune with

There is such a thing unconscious bias.

There's such a long gap following your post, Belle. I'll assume it's another one of your phone glitches. I couldn't find my post it was so far down, lol. I wonder what the problem is?

I know, I saw that after I posted it.

I have no idea what's going on.

It doesn't seem to happen on pm's.

It's time to consult the expert.

Yes! Of course, and it's not limited to one race either. Implicit bias and explicit bias is not only exhibited toward minority groups, it's exhibited towards gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, even disabilities, and gender identity. Whether intentional or unintentional this, unfortunately, affects behavior and judgment towards others, and especially decision making. There are things that people can do to help change this, but it takes a conscience effort. Many people don't even know they're bias because they are conditioned/taught at a very young age to judge.
