I’m 15 and i’m planning on getting an abortion. I just would not like my parents to know. It says they only tell your parents under some circumstances. Do you happen to know what they are?

HTT, you have my heartfelt concern, not only for you but also for your parents and for your possible baby-to-be.  Please make an informed decision about whether to have an abortion.  Don't just rush to get it done in the heat of the moment.  Listen carefully to both sides before finalizing your decision.

However, if your decision has been irrevocably made, here is the information you need to know:  it depends where you live.  Some states will inform parents, others will not.  Check it out here:

A very helpful and informative answer, Media. Thank you!

Too help further::

Planned Parenthood affiliates operate more than 600 health centers across the United States. They are the nation's leading provider and advocate of high-quality, affordable health care for young girls in these situations. They help women, men, and young people of all ages.

Planned Parenthood may or may not notify your parents of the care you received. Regardless,  parents cannot access your medical records without your permission. Note: as indicated it depends on the laws in your state.

May I suggest BEFORE you make a decision this important, to please seek Planned Parenthood or another type of support agency such as this in your area. These type family planning institutions provide access to contraception, education on abortion laws, and adoption laws, including economic incentives that assist low-income mothers, etc... By encouraging  others to seek this support we will continue to keep abortion rates low.

Best to educate yourself FIRST by getting counseled. Then weigh carefully your options to possibly save a life. Educating yourself will definitely aid in what should be your decision to make. Again, as indicared, it depends on the laws in your state.

My best to you!
