Regarding what situation?

My advice is only invaluable if the listener actually values my opinion.

I am very experienced in some areas and absolutely useless in others. lol.

I am humble enough to know my strengths but vastly aware of my many weaknesses!

I asked if there are spare wheelchairs at the hospital I am free to use. I would have thought that was easy for someone who works there.

I cannot speak in generalities about the UK but generally in the US wheelchairs are readily available. Simply because many times patients are discharged after surgery and aren’t capable of walking considerable distances afterwards.

Sometimes, I have found when you are polite and ask simple questions it gives people the ability to avoid answering directly and equivocate!

I have observed when people instead assertively make a direct statement/ request/demand they are amazingly less likely to have their needs denied.

My mother case in point made her needs nearly undeniable. So assertive/aggressive that it assumed there was no reasonable way a person could deny her. And she seldom was!

I simply found this approach rude and assuming.

Which was exactly why she did this particular behavior.

Yeah. I noted something similar in my time at DPD last Christmas. This guy pushed his way right to the front of the queue to get a scanner and virtually shouted at the window for them to give him one. Which they did.

The Bible says”The meek shall inherit the earth”

My opinion is that quote was actually a translation error. Meaning earth being dirt not the planet Earth! lol!

I was told once I should be more demanding. Did not know that.

The squeaky wheel gets the greaseis an American proverb or metaphorused to convey the idea that the most noticeable (or loudest) problems are the ones most likely to get attention. It is also expressed as "The squeaky wheel gets the oil".

There are always plenty of seats on wheels at the entrance to hospitals. However, you would need someone to pull it for you. Do you have someone who can accompany you to your appointment?.

Thanks. That is what I've been told. There are volunteers apparently. I am just trying to prepare because I know it's going to be another nightmare.

Yeah there always volunteers around. It used to be called the  W.R.V.S. but recently they dropped the W for woman, but its mostly woman who volunteer. I don't know!!!!

I'm guessing there's a good chance there won't be any volunteers available. Which is why I asked about a wheelchair. Of course I got fobbed off before I was allowed to explain that.

It's different up here, the volunteers are buzzing about determined to help someone the minute you walk through the door.
