No judgement from me, just the facts and how I interpret them.
Just like most presidents, Johnson was much loved and greatly hated, depending on who you ask. In fact, many today don't realize that his highly successful domestic programs that dramatically changed the way the U.S. and the role of the federal government play, are ongoing today. However, all that was definitely overshadowed over his failure to deal effectively with the Vietnam war. He fought that war for many reason truly believing it was essential to hold the line in Vietnam against the Communist trying to advance their antagonistic pollical theory and policy. Though in the end the effort to block the communist take over failed, the March into Saigon in 1975 by the North Vietnamese communism did not spread throughout the rest of Southeast Asia. Well, except for Laos and Cambodia.
As always, way too much public opinion, and no solutions, makes for too much stress and mayhem. With that, the toughest most critized job in the world goes on.....
